I'm in the R and D phase for a new Isle of Wight based project . I am looking to interview people who were at the 1970 Isle of Wight Pop festival to be included in a performative installation
I will begin to archive old sketchbook drawings here

"Real isn't how you are made, said the skin horse. It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long time, not just to play with but really loves you, then you become real"
"it takes a long time. That's why it doesn't often happen to people who break easily or who have sharp edges or who have to be carefully kept"
what does practice mean? Does having a practice mean I'm perfect? Is it the impossibility of finalising something?
I used to like to practice the piano until I discovered The Cure
I used to like practicing table tennis until my Mum won another Island Championship
I liked to practice being lazy but found I didn't need to
Now it seems I have a Practice - Well at least it's not a silver tray with my name engraved on
I have just been looking back at past projects that I have been involved in.
There are pictures of puppet-making and procession from 'Tales from the Keep' here
my mobile phone photo diary can be found at
call out for glove puppets- all unused, unwanted, vacated gloves. If you have any donkeys, mice , rabbits , etc that fit the bill please consider donating to the emerging installation . All donations will be credited in the exhibition publication

I will be showing PUPPETS IN THE CHINES-3rd draft

a public re-rehearsal of a puppet play commissioned exactly ten years ago by Isle of Wight AONB project to celebrate the Chines of the Isle of Wight. This version may include live scene painting, script-reading and character building.

I've been reflecting a lot recently on past projects and collaborations. It's a strange thing when your collaborative involvement comes to an end but the project and in this case the puppets live on
of course an artists life must include the annual easter egg hunt- to focus the eye on the little things, looking close, looking for the glint in amongst the wild garlic, paying close attention and enjoying a walk in the woods
Happy Easter
Anthony Minghella died today.
I thank him for his letter and support when I was a student
Now I send my support to the Minghella family.
I re-read the letter today which talks of him being on location in North Africa (1995) whilst making "a film" which became "The English Patient"
lolly sticks approach no joke that reminds me I must put the purchase of lolly sticks on my shopping list for tomorrow's lunch hour dash into Totnes town. The last time the lolly stick was on my list was February 2007 the day before travelling up to the Lone Twin Symposium at Lancaster University- where i read/told some jokes for the very first time
www.cascpp.lancs.ac.uk/documents/Lonetwin.pdf I must remind myself now to jot down a few rememderences about "BARRY" and losing the golden barry in a travelodge toilet
Hello Matt It was good to be part of the LoneTwin Symposium in February. Now , on reflection I realize that I have no documentation of my work there. Would it be at all possible to get a copy of any video footage? Another funny thing- When I was packing my lolly stick suitcases in the hotel - out of the smallest case of blank sticks jumped an old silver , not so shiny locket- it literally jumped into the palm of my hand. It had no photograph inside , I wondered how it might have got there and whether it might have fallen from the neck of one of the symposium audience - could you put a call out? It was inscribed 'LOVE BARRY' I wear it round my neck. It shines a treat. And in the words of the greatest of the Barries ' Could it be magic' Cheers Teresa LOVE BARRYMy lolly stick jokes performance will be brought out of its three suitcases on 14th March for the Red Ape Project in Plymouth
I will be reading out lolly stick jokes for the time it takes for my FAB lolly to melt- there may be some repetition

The Quay Brothers in Conversation with Suzanne Buchan
Some parts of this event were interesting, especially listening to the twins finishing off each other sentences
Looking forward to searching the web for their Kelloggs commercial- will post it when found
"its a strange world that casts decor as its main character."
"Puppet animation is much closer to dance and music, which are our biggest sources of inspiration. The relationship of movement to music, the range of music in dance, all these propel our work far more than conventional cinema." the Quay Brothers
Going up town to Exeter today in search of all things animated.
Hoping to see the Quay Brothers in conversation ( identical twin animators)
and see what that crazy timelord Ian Helliwell www.ianhelliwell.co.uk has in store for us at the Phoenix this evening
here's a link to an artist's blog that I met whilst working with Cultual Hub Bournemouth and Poole on the Under 5's artists residencies recently.

I've been looking a lot at the Ventnor Blog recently
It's a fantastic community blog site which is really helping to profile the town of Ventnor across the isle of Wight and beyond
Check it out www.ventnorblog.com
Welcome in the Teresa Grimaldi's blogging blog. These days it seems its good for an artist to have a blog, it gets them out.
I've been making art for a long time now. Trying to give myself a gap year but ideas keep getting in the way.
I am beginning to re work some dolls from unfinished doll/puppet parts for a project for Island 2000 on the Isle of Wight at the moment.
